The city of Costa Mesa invites residents to participate in public workshops intended to obtain input on the Open Space Master Plan of Parks and Recreation.

These workshops will be offered at two different locations to allow the greatest number of residents to attend and provide their input. Additional, future public workshops are also being scheduled for later in the summer.

Tradition continues Friday June 3 through Sunday June 5, when the Costa Mesa Lion’s Club 69th Annual Fish Fry & Carnival returns to Fairview Park. Guests are invited to enjoy a weekend of music, carnivals, vendors, opportunity drawings, family, friends and fish dinners.

Come learn to paint and enjoy a slurpee with all your friends. Inspired Art will provide step-by-step instructions and no painting experience is needed. This event is limited to the first 50 teens and transportation will be provided from Teen Centers. Please see van permission slip for details and you must have a permission slip to participate. The Costa Mesa Choirs present “Songs of the Stage and Screen” at 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. with the Madrigal Choir and Vocal Ensemble and featuring the Maverick Choruses at 6:30 p.m. and the Concert Choir at 8:15 p.m.

At 5:30 a.m. on the third Friday of each month, residents can participate in the “Walk and Talk with the Mayor” for approximately a 90-minute walk. The group will meet at the Estancia High School parking lot adjacent to the tennis court.

All amateur radio operators, clubs and organizations, youth groups and everyone interested in seeing how to “Get on the Air” are invited to a weekend of demonstrations and hands-on use of amateur and everyday use radio sets. A special open house for everyone to get to know the Costa Mesa Senior Center. Presented by the Senior Advisory Committee, this special event is an invitation to new members and current members to learn about the various activities at the center and get a chance to meet new people. Icebreakers, activities and food will be available to encourage engagment and make a new friend. Register by June 17.
